Lagos Traffic Authority Launches Investigation Into Joshua Accident

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced a formal investigation into the car accident involving British boxing champion Anthony Joshua that occurred earlier today on the Lekki-Epe Expressway. In a press conference held this evening, LASTMA officials outlined the scope of their investigation and timeline for expected findings.

'We take all traffic incidents seriously, but this case has garnered significant international attention,' said LASTMA Director General Olufemi Akinbile. 'Our investigation will be thorough, transparent, and professional. We owe it to Mr. Joshua, the other parties involved, and the public to determine exactly what happened and why.'

The investigation will include:

1. Analysis of all available CCTV footage from the scene 2. Interviews with eyewitnesses 3. Examination of both vehicles involved 4. Review of traffic signal logs at the intersection 5. Toxicology reports on both drivers 6. Reconstruction of the accident

Preliminary findings suggest that the commercial bus may have run a red light, but LASTMA officials emphasized that no final conclusions have been drawn. 'We have video evidence that strongly suggests one party violated traffic signals, but we must follow due process,' Akinbile stated.

The investigation is expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete, at which point a full report will be released to the public. Officials indicated that if traffic violations are confirmed, appropriate charges will be filed.

This incident has also renewed discussions about traffic safety in Lagos. LASTMA took the opportunity to remind all motorists of the importance of obeying traffic signals and driving safely, particularly at major intersections where accidents are more common.

'Every accident is preventable,' Akinbile added. 'We hope this high-profile case will serve as a reminder to all road users of their responsibility to drive safely and follow traffic laws.'
